A dry week and Saturday saw a glorious morning with no wind - a first for ages.
Final Order of Merit
It was the final order of merit for the winter and with John Walsh and Mike Winterbottom having already sealed victory in division one and division two respectively, it was all to play for in second and third place. The only mover on the day was Simon Stephens who partnered himself up with inform Mike Winterbottom along with Andy Sugars and Simon Williams to take fourth place and 4 points to grab third place in Division One. It was the more usual groups of Mike Cooper, David Marriott, David Boyd & David Earnshaw and Robert Allison, Richard Cooper, Stewart Laws & Jonathan Greenwood who took first and second place with 83 and 81 points respectively.
Thanks to everybody who supported the events throughout what has been a long and very wet winter. The final results were as follows:
Division One
Winner - John Walsh £150 Voucher, Second - Jonathan Flint £100 Voucher and Third - Simon Stephens £50 Voucher.
Division Two
Winners - Mike Winterbottom £150 Voucher, Second - Matthew Fawke £100 Voucher and Third - Len Fawke £50 Voucher.
Ladies Academy
Also on Saturday my ladies academy members were out for their first session of the New Year. The academy scheme has been really successful with new members joining from each group and the numbers growing every year. If your wife, partner or friends are thinking of taking up golf it really is the ideal place to get started. Seven ladies braved chilly conditions to join me on Saturday.
Pictured (l-r) are:
Sarah Armstrong - a former Academy lady and now a full member - Barbara Shackleton, Julie Franklin, Stella Wilson, Virginia Lodge - also a former Academy lady turned full member - and her daughter Molly, a Moortown junior, with Liz Durrant.
More success for the Moortown Ladies
There was more success for the Moortown Ladies who just can't seem to stop winning at the moment.
Sue Preston and Julie Batchelor (pictured loking very pleased with themselves - and rightly so!), both being coached by Eddie were drawn at home in the first round of the Daily Mail Foursomes against Halifax Bradley Hall on Sunday and beat their opponents decisively 6&5!
Prostate Cancer UK Marathon Walk
Thanks to everyone who clicked through and supported me and Jo in our marathon walks for Prostate Cancer on the 22nd March. I really hope that a few more of you would be so kind to add your contribution to a very worthwhile cause, it would be great to reach a £1,000.

Aimpoint Putting Day
There are still a couple of places left on The Aimpoint putting day on Thursday, 24 March - this is being taken by Europe's leading Aimpoint expert Jamie Donaldson, who has helped last week's winner of the Honda Classic and former Masters Champion Adam Scott as well as Ian Poulter.
Take a look at the video on Jamie's website to see what you might learn from using Aimpoint. http://jamiedonaldson.co.uk/

New arrivals
New stock piling in every day ready for the spring (fingers crossed it will come soon).
Galvin Green and FootJoy for the men and the new Rohnisch range for the ladies.
Come along and have a look, it's looking really good.
5 Club Anniversary Celebration
It's the first official club competition of the year on Saturday the 5 club challenge and also marks my 13th Anniversary at Moortown.
So what clubs are you taking for the 5 Club?
My choice would be 3 Wood, 5 Iron, 8 Iron, 52 degree gap Wedge and Putter.
As an extra bonus to celebrate 13 years at Moortown, anybody who scores a gross birdie on the 13th hole on Saturday will get a Dozen Callaway Chrome Soft Balls and every nett birdie will receive one Chrome Soft.
Last year I was turned over with this offer on the 12th hole so hoping its lucky 13!

Add this useful shot to your locker |
We do like a bit of visual technology - and that's exactly what you get with these new shoes. However, the 'cage' isn't just for show, you just have to try a pair on. Not only are they extremely comfortable, something you always get from ECCO, but they feel great through the swing. |
