May Medal

So it was David Ellis, Richard Brown and Hamish Dunlop who took advantage of the FootJoy glove beat your handicap promotion on Saturday. 

All purchased a new glove Saturday morning and won themselves another one courtesy of beating their handicap in the May Medal - well done guys.

Matthew East won Division One with a gross 73 nett 71 despite dropping 4 shots in the last five holes. David Marriott had the same woes dropping 5 in the last four holes to finish second with a nett 72. 

Simon Calvert won Division Two, recovering from an 8 on the 7th hole and closing with a birdie on the 18th to post the lowest score of the day a nett 70. Alan Easton finished second with a nett 73.

Lady Captain/Pro Challenge

On Sunday The Lady Captain and I took on all challengers, with 42 people taking us on, on what must have been the best day of the year. Unfortunately we had a poor run on 14, 15 and 16 only making one point and it proved very costly, as I certainly re-aligned by stock of golf balls!! 

   

The winners were Sam Waters and Julie Batchelor and as well as popping their corks it was great to see so many people tucking in to Stuart's fantastic steak sandwiches and having a great time soaking up the sun in front of the clubhouse. 

Anne and Mike Weston finished second, which was a good job as you need to be able to play to carry off the trousers Mike was wearing!

It was also great on Sunday to see the young juniors out putting in their first cards for handicap. David Ellis is co-ordinating the events with the next one on the 5 June. Moortown's youngest member Jamie Young completed all 9 holes put in a card which included an 8 on the par 5 7th hole - not bad for someone aged seven!
