It was Captain Fantastic at the weekend as The Captain won The May Medal with a fine net 70 to take Division Two by 2 shots from Stephen Kirk and Geoff Gibson. It was a four way tie at the top of Division One with Paul Mahony coming out on top from Stewart Laws, Robert Allison and Ian Stephenson all having scored nett 70.
The Captain and I played our first Captain and Pro Challenge, getting all the rub of the green to beat Jack Cooke and Mike Craven - the bottle of wine divided by three rather than four obviously worked in our favour!
After being the bearer of bad new with all teams losing last week, I am glad to be able to report that the Ladies B Team thrashed York in their first game of the season winning 6-1. Well done ladies. The scratch team travel to Garforth on Monday who also got off to a bad start to the season losing 6-0 to Howley Hall.
The Mixed Open on Monday attracted a full field from as far away as Budleigh Salterton in East Devon to Carlisle. The winners were Charles Wylie and Fiona Wylie from Whittington Heath in Staffordshire with 42 points. The Vice Captains turned in Moortown's best performance finishing 5th with 40 points.
A reminder that there are still a few unpaid for The Captain's Away Day to Coxmoor on the 6th June and the date is fast approaching.
Another busy weekend at the club, with a L&DUGC fourball on Saturday and then the course is closed all day Sunday for the AmAm Open.
