Newsletter 450!
In 2006 I started writing a little bit to contribute and keep you in touch with what's happening at Moortown. I hope that you are still enjoying my snippets, just like 10 years ago if you have any stories or news you would like me to share then just email me.
It was certainly the case of the early bird catching the worm on Saturday. First out, Bob Banks and Ian Barnes stormed round in nett 64 to set a target that just couldn't be beaten all day to win the R&A Trophy by two shots from Martyn Robinson and David Aitken. They set off at a blistering pace being 7 under after 11 holes and parred in for their 64. One other couple did get to 7 under after 16 holes but a 5 on the 17th and an 11 on the 18th put paid to their hopes of silverware - they know who they are so I won't name names!
On Sunday the Captain took a strong team to Bradford for the annual social match, unfortunately they weren't strong enough for a good Bradford team on home soil. As ever the camaraderie and fun of the social matches was in abundance and a good time was had by all.
All go at Moortown this weekend with Monthly Stableford on Saturday, and the Presidents Day shot gun on Sunday. The President is hosting a cocktail party on the Saturday night where there will be auction for teams. Sunday will culminate in a shootout for the pot which could be in excess of £1,000. If you can't make the golf, then come along for the playoff which is expected to start around 2.30pm to 3.00pm, I'm sure it's going to a fun day.
The Am Am invitation day has now been changed from a double shotgun to a timed tee sheet. If you haven't got your name down there are still gaps twos and fours. It is a two from four format with two members and two guests per team.
US PGA this week and I'm sticking with my Open choice of Rickie Fowler to break through this week, so that's probably blown his chances!
