Roger Eames took the silverware on Sunday claiming both the Vets and Hartley Trophies with a nett 70, despite an 8 on the 15th hole.
Roger has had regular lessons with me ever since I have come to Moortown and has reduced his handicap to 13 which is lower than it was 13 years ago - no mean feat when you become eligible for The Hartley Trophy - well done Roger.
Roger played with Division Two winner Matthew Fawke, whose 67 triggered an exceptional score reduction to 16 handicap and I think there are a few more shots to come off yet. Division One was won by Matthew Gibson with a nett 70 beating Stephen Dean, Jamie Allison and Iain Esplin who all scored 71's.
The ladies Club Championship was a really close run affair, with Anne Weston hanging on after a solid first round to win by one shot from Liz Milner who scored the best afternoon round, and pre-tournament favourite Fiona Stoddard, who fought back from a disaster early on in round one to nearly steal the show at the death with an eagle three on the 18th. This week it's been Yorkshire Amateur Championship and the Moortown contingent are putting up a fine show, as I write this on Wednesday evening it looks like six or seven members are going to make the top 40 and make the cut.

Saturday is the Invitational Am-Am - could ask as many of you as possible to prepay for your guests to help with the smooth running of the event on the day.

It's all warming up
It's all warming up for the selection for the Ryder Cup; with Russell Knox winning his second PGA event at the weekend if he doesn't make the team automatically it is going to be very difficult for Darren Clarke not to pick him. With Kaymer, Westwood and Lowry not in the team automatically at present the Captain's picks are going to leave somebody very disappointed. USA Captain Davis Love has also got selection problems with two of his named vice captains in good form with Jim Furyk recording the lowest round ever (58) on the PGA Tour last week.
I'm very lucky to be going to Hazeltine in my capacity as a Board member of The PGA, and will be an official observer for one or two of the matches. I'm sure as ever it will be a fantastic spectacle, but I think even though Europe will start as favourites that the Americans are going to steal this one.
I hope that you are all enjoying The Olympics and hope that if we can't have a British gold medal in the golf that Sergio can make up for all those majors that have passed him by.
I have enjoyed following the success of Aditi Ashock who won the British Ladies at Moortown last year, who is delighted to be representing India in Rio next week.
