Well not quite sure where that one went, but here we are and 2017. Happy New Year to everybody from all of us in the Pro Shop and hope that you all achieve your golfing wishes this year.
The Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve shot gun competitions were well received over the slightly shorter course. Christmas Eve was a Winners Take All and the team of Simon Stephens, Mike and Ben Winterbottom and Simon Williams romped home beating Mike McCarthy, Nick Draper, James Burnett and Steve Cavanagh by 6 points!
New Year's Eve was a Texas Scramble and Simon Stephens, Nick Draper, Jonathan Flint and Adrian Scott had to settle for second place as the big hitting team of Richard Cooper, Jonathan Greenwood, Martyn Robinson and Andy Earnshaw slotted in the four drives each over 16 holes perfectly and won with a net 51.3.
The Christmas Draw was drawn on Christmas Eve with Jamie Allison taking the first prize of a £400 Pro Shop Voucher. Michael Cooke was 2nd and won a £200 Pro Shop Voucher with 3rd Prize going to Jim Throssell and a £100 Pro Shop Voucher. Eddie Winn won 4th Prize which sees me caddying for Eddie in one of this year's competitions!
Thanks to everybody who entered and better luck next Christmas. It was farewell to Stuart and Cath on New Year's Eve - they will be missed at Moortown during their time at Moortown they most definitely moved the bar in the catering and service that is expected at Moortown.
If I heard it once I heard it a hundred times -"This is the best food I've ever had at a golf club"
I wish them both well and look forward to meeting the new chef Darren next week when he starts.
2017 New Year Resolutions
http://rebels17studio.co.uk/
I am really excited to be able to announce that I have formed a partnership with Rebels17 a new Yoga and Pilates studio in Shadwell. Over the coming weeks I will be working alongside proprietor Claire Thompson to create specific programs for the members. We aim to run dedicated classes for the members, be it men only, lady only or mixed. Many of you might know Claire who has been an instructor for many years at David Lloyd.
If you would be interested in any type of class let me know and I discuss it with Claire. I am targeting the hot yoga to start with, Monday night at 7.00pm if anybody fancies joining me?
Anyway watch this space.
Saturday's Competition
Another great field for Saturday's competition, with such a large field we will again reduce the number of hole to allow everybody to get a game in the limited day light. At present there are no spaces at all with 120 people down to play. I remember when I came to Moortown in 2003 we didn't get that many playing in the April Medal!
There was sad news over the New Year period with two very long standing members, Betty Robinson and Walter Ratcliffe passing away either side of New Year.
