Lombard Qualifier

Matthew Fawke took top spot in The Lombard Qualifier on Saturday with a great score of 40 points, so will join me at a venue to be agreed.

Matthew got off to a slow start with just 2 points after two holes but 19 points on the next seven holes helped by back to back gross birdies on the 5th and 6th got the round going.

Despite a blob on the 14th, Matthew still managed 19 points coming home to pip Ian Stead, Bob Hartley and Dave Barnfield who all scored 39 points.

The first week of Spring hadn't been too kind with heavy rain closing the course on Wednesday and Thursday. There is a good forecast for the weekend and Saturday looks set to be a gorgeous day for the rescheduled 5 club challenge, it is only 5 clubs and I hope that everybody will be carrying those 5 around, I really don't want to be seeing any trolleys out there on Saturday it is exceptionally wet.

Masters 2017

Only a couple of weeks to The Masters, looks like Jason Day might not be there, but with the world no.1 & 2 both in fine form it will take a brave man to bet against Dustin or Rory, but I think it might be another first time major winner, and I'm going to pick Paul Casey this year. It's not personal but he's not my favourite and my picks often don't win, but he has returned to some great form since moving to America full time and six of his last eight rounds at August have been in the 60's.

We are running the usual sweepstake, with such a small field at The Masters it is £5 a player, last year Andrew Beddis got Jordan Spieth and looked like cleaning up until his good friend Jason Child pipped him at the post with Danny Willett, hopefully it will be your lucky year this year.
