Spring medal

Simon Stephens certainly showed that the hard work put in over the winter working with Eddie was worth it firing a superb one under par gross 70 in the Spring Medal on Saturday. Simon who had gone back up to 1 handicap at the back end of last year returned to scratch with his nett 69.

It looked good enough to take first place until Iain Robb in the last group out pipped Simon on the back 9 also scoring a fine nett 69. Bradley Snowden scored a nett 70 which secured him the Tankard Trophy and David Aitken a gross 75 to win the Collinge Trophy. It was a log jam at the top of division two with Ian Botterill beating the inform Jon Cohen and David Walton on the back 9 after all three had scored nett 70's.

David had a lesson with Eddie on Friday, feeling in a very good mood on Saturday morning after The Rhinos win on Friday night he played "The best round I 've played in years" - I must find out what the secret was from Eddie!

Masters Sweepstake

It really is the start of the season with The Masters this week. It looks like weather conditions on the first couple of days could make it difficult and I don't believe it has ever been a more open tournament. I'm still sticking with Paul Casey to win, but have my money on Hideki Matsuyama, Phil Mickleson and Marc Leishman, so I'd steer away from them with my record as a tipster!

Thanks to all those that entered The Masters sweep we only had 92 squares and there were 94 qualifiers so we did a draw for the two extra and Adrian Hall and Mike Craven got an extra player each.
