White tee medal
Very testing conditions for the first white tee medal of the year last Saturday. Eddie Winn obviously caught some good vibes from Sergio whilst out at The Masters and stormed to victory in the 1st Division with a fantastic nett 70, on a day when the CSS went out to 76 to win by three shots from Charles Lupton and Elliott Kay.
The 2nd Division was won by Peter Jones who has been showing good form during his winter coaching, Peter obviously got very giddy as he took 8 down the last and could still win by two shots and reduce his handicap two whole shots to 15.5 - well done Peter glad to see all the hard work this winter paying off. Tom Hurley was second with a nett 72 and the Vice-Captain third with 73.
Course training
On Tuesday Eddie and I took the ladies teams out for some on course training.
It was great to see over 20 ladies turn out, I hope we gave you some good tips and that you all have a successful year in the matches.
England Squad
The England squad and A squad have been at Moortown this week in preparation for the Home Internationals which are due to be held at Moortown in August. The standard of golf looked very impressive.
It was good to see the 2010 Junior Masters Champion Marco Penge who is now a full member of the England squad aged 18. He certainly hits it a bit further than he did in 2010 - on the 15th hole on Wednesday according to head coach Graham Walker he eased one out there 335 yards!
Put the dates in your diary to come along in August (14th to 18th) you will see golf of the highest standard around your own course, and very likely witness a future major champion.
This weekend
It is a yellow tee Stableford this weekend, so hopefully a little easier, there are still a few gaps in the afternoon if you fancy a game contact the pro shop.
The Captain's social matches kick off this weekend with Moortown entertaining Huddersfield on Sunday morning. If you haven't put your name down for the social matches I would urge you to do so, they really are a great way of playing against other members from likeminded clubs in a really good social environment.
