Competition round up

Well David Houlding yet again proved his is Moortown’s finest winning The Scratch Cup for a fifth time on Saturday with scores of 70 and 71. Rob Treweek was second with scores of 72 and 74 and Tom Gray was third with scores of 75 and 73. Simon Roberts pipped the inform David Aitken to win the Blue Tee Medal, with Bob Banks and David Nugent also scoring 73 on a difficult day when CSS went up to 76.

Sunday was Lady Captain’s Day which saw Glynis entertaining all the ladies with a feast of homemade sandwiches and cakes at halfway. Patsy Mannion won with a fantastic back nine score of 22 points, having only scored 14 points going out, Patsy is now a firm believer that she needs to start every round with two glasses of Prosecco!! Judy Owens won the Silver Division and Susan Harley-Davies the Bronze Division both also scoring 36 points but not being able to match Karen’s back nine score.

The Open Sweepstake

The Open Sweepstake draw still has a few spaces left, who knows you might even draw our very own Nick McCarthy. The pot is still over £600 and will be divided - £180 for 1st Place, £140 for 2nd, £80 for 3rd and £60 for 4th place, and £25 for the best and worst score each day. If I sell all the tickets this will increase pro rata and all the takings are paid out in winnings.

The Open course guides

I have managed to get hold of 25 players edition Strokesaver course guides that I have got Nick McCarthy to sign and I am selling them for a minimum donation of £10 with all proceeds going to help Nick with his expenses for the week.

It will be a small gesture to wish Nick all the best for the week, which I’m sure many of you will want to support..

I’ve had a few little bets on the Open, and I still fancy a first time winner, Rickie Fowler is my tip, it must be time for him soon.

Maybe he will need to come from behind on the last day as he has failed to close out a few recently, but with me tipping him he might be lucky to make the cut.

We can’t wait for this...

2017 has already seen a lot of new products hit the market and the next big reveal is just around the corner. In only a few weeks’ time you’ll be able to try out and get fitted for the hugely impressive PING G400 range, and to say we’re excited is an understatement.
