David Houlding proved again over 36 holes off the back tees there is no one better in the club for the third year running - winning the Scratch Cup with scores of 71 and 72 beating one of the newer members Tim Barley by four shots after rounds of 72 and 75. The blue tees proved too tough for many but Tom Townsend having turned 15 earlier in the month scorched round in a fine 78 nett 68 to take first place from David Boyd whose net 70 would have won most years.
Nick McCarthy had another good week on the EuroPro tour at Frilford Heath finishing 8 under par for tied 7th place, this on the back of a 10 under par finish for 6th place the week before. Nick has two weeks in Scotland and then two weeks in Ireland this next month so hopefully he can continue the good form and get a vital win under his belt. Nick's progress can be followed on http://www.europrotour.com
Many congratulations to the Ladies A Team, skippered this year by Bev Burrows. On Monday they secured their sixth victory of the season against Wike Ridge following victories both Home and Away against Catterick and Cleveland. It will now be a nail biting few weeks until they find out if they are in the top four of the Yorkshire League. This would ensure that they go forward to the Final at Saltburn on 10th September at Saltburn. But these girls are no strangers to success though - the same team won the Yorkshire title back in 2012.
The Titleist 913 driver is now reduced to only £199, with the fairways £129 and the hybrids £119. So there has never been a better time to come along and have a fitting for some new clubs. Remember that members do not pay for fitting which is charged to visitors at £25 per session, so for driver, fairways and hybrids that is another £75 saving. Remember I am also still running the free hybrid offer when purchasing an X2 Hot driver, whilst stocks last.
As the premier Scotty Cameron fitting centre for the North of England we have a Scotty Cameron fitting day on the morning of Saturday 19th July. This will be an appointment only day, and obviously will be limited. So if you would like to be fitted by the Tour Scotty Cameron rep then please contact us ASAP so as not to be disappointed. Click here to contact us.
Obviously we are closed this weekend for Le Grand Depart - I hope the day goes well and the legacy left for Yorkshire makes up for missing a Saturday's golf.
So the next competition is the July medal on the 12th July - the 75 top Srixon accounts in the country have all been given £1,000 of Srixon balls and I thought what better way to let you see if a Srixon ball is for you than to get you to try one? So every competitor in the July Medal will receive a sleeve of 3 Srixon balls FOC. So the ladies are not left out you will also get a sleeve on Lady Captain's Day on the Sunday.
