Race to Dubai It was good to see two English men at the top of the European Standings after the final event in Dubai last Sunday. What looked like was going to be an absolute classic finish, fizzled out with Rose dropping a few shots on the back nine, which let John Rahm cap an amazing first season and enable Tommy Fleetwood to capture the European Crown. Next year is of course another Ryder Cup year and even though the USA look strong at the top of their batting order with Johnson, Spieth and Thomas, Europe are currently boasting nine of the top twenty players in the world. If you can’t wait until September for the Ryder Cup the team for the EurAsia Cup 12th -14th Jan was announced this week and without Rory, Sergio and John Rahm this looks a strong team too. Rafa Cabrera-Bello (Spain), Paul Casey (England), Paul Dunne (Ireland), Ross Fisher (England), Matt Fitzpatrick (England), Tommy Fleetwood (England), Tyrrell Hatton (England), Alex Levy (France), Alex Noren (Sweden), Thomas Pieters (Belgium), Henrik Stenson (Sweden) and Bernd Wiesberger (Austria) (14). |
