Texas scramble Another difficult week for the greens staff trying to get the course playable. On Friday they spent most of the day squeegeeing the puddles off the course and hand cutting the greens in preparation for the Texas scramble on Saturday. With a frost forecast on Friday it looked set for a reasonable day on Saturday. But all good plans and that, another 15mm of rain on Friday night put all Saturdays work back. That said we did go ahead with the Texas Scramble over 15 holes. Over 100 members desperate to get out played and some of the teams were showing no signs of new blues. Top of the pile with an incredible score of 46.4 nearly two shots better than any other team were the team of John Fearn, John Walsh, Rob Dickinson and Keith Annal. Second place on 48.1 were Craig Conley, Steve Trutch, Johnny Rhodes and Mike Cooper beating Gary Young, Eddie Winn, Paul Turner and Rob Allison by 0.1 of a shot. Upcoming events It’s a 2 from 4 Winter Order of Merit on Saturday with another full field. With a compulsory carry only policy last week we had two drop outs, if the message is carry if at all possible trolleys allowable for those that need it, please please carry if you can it makes a huge difference and will enable those that do need a trolley to play. |
