There were more great scores at the weekend in the monthly Stableford, with Tom Townsend and Matthew East heading Division One with 39 points. Hamish Dunlop piped Bill Dales both scoring 39 points in Division Two. It was the second good score for Tom, which invoked an exceptional score reduction on Tom's handicap now down to 5.5. Obviously the trip to California and the golf at Pasatiempo and Valley Club have done wonders for Tom's golf, well done.
It is the R&A Trophy (a 4BBB competition) this weekend and there are one or two spaces to make up fours if you can manage it on a Bank Holiday weekend.
The Captain took to a fine team of 16 to Pannal on Sunday, but despite us beating The Pannal Captain and Pro we could only muster one more win. It was another fine social match and I can't believe that it is nearly another year gone - but it's the big one next month Ilkley at home - we want the cleek back!
On Sunday despite at times wet and blustery conditions, the Ladies turned out to play in Christine Grattan's Memorial Competition. It was a tremendous success and £250 was raised for Martin House. Thanks go to Linda Hudson who gave the prizes for the team event and to Tony Grattan who donated prizes for 'nearest the pin'.
The Junior Masters on Monday again was a huge success - thank you to all those members who took their time to steward a match, without your help it would not happen. The event was again won by Barclay Brown from Hallamshire. It is the first time I can remember someone defending the title, so Barclay is definitely a name to watch for the future - off 2 handicap at 13 years old it might mean it's not too much into the future that we might be seeing his name at the top of other leaderboards.
We continue with our summer sale over the Bank Holiday with lots of shirts on a buy one get one free and other clothing offers in store. With new models of clubs on the horizon, now is the time to pick a bargain. The Titleist 913 driver is now only £199 down from £299, with the fairways at £129 and the hybrid £119 remember as a member the fitting is completely free.
I use my indoor studio every day more or less and forget that many of you still might not have even seen never been fitted in the studio. The GC2 and HMT system I use is the best in the industry; it is the only equipment that can tell where the ball has been struck on the face. There are other launch monitors on the market that can track the ball, but none can track the ball and club like GC2 and HMT. This information enables me to fit any club more accurately to your individual swing. Not only is it fantastic for fitting but it is essential for teaching, the information on swing path, angle of attack, strike location and club rotation enable me to fine tune you swing - it has changed the way I teach and without doubt has made the changes much quicker in pupils that have had lessons in the studio. Why not book in a free assessment lesson and see how I can change your game this winter? Call or click here.
Lady Captain's Away Day
There is a list up in the locker room for the Away Day at Ilkley GC on September 19th. Ladies please do add your name and pop across to the office to pay. There are limited numbers this year so make sure you don't miss out!
Have a great Bank Holiday - hope it keeps dry not only for the golf but for all those festival goers at Braham Park.
