September Medal A busy weekend at Moortown to kick off September, started on Saturday with the September Medal. Division one was won by Dave Barnfield with a gross 83 nett 71, beating Eddie Pegrum, John Walsh and Scott Harrison who all scored 72. Division two was won by Cal Counsell-Jackson with a great 66 nett beating Joe Hendron with a nett 68 with Stewart laws third with a nett 72. Jubilee Trophy On Sunday it was the 60th playing of the Jubilee Trophy and it was the first time since 1980 that two ladies won. Sue Whitten and Sue Bone beat Andy Earnshaw and Gareth Davies on a count back having both scored 39 Points. Chris Lord & Kevin O’Connor finished third on 38 points, with Gary Young & Mark Bedford winning best gross on 33 points. The Hudson Trophy It was also the 60th playing of The Hudson Trophy at South Herts on Sunday. The Captain flew in from California having been on the ladies MacKenzie to join us on Saturday, having not slept for nearly three days! The team of Simon Stephens and myself, and David Houlding and Marcus Shepherd, looked like we might be in danger of getting relegated again after 27 holes. The scoring was the best I have ever seen and Simon and I birdied five of the last six holes, Simon holing a 12 footer on the last for another birdie. We watched on as Marcus holed a 10 footer on the last for par, and then waited to see if we had done enough. Our combined score of 312 just being enough by one shot! Thanks to Josh Stephens for his caddying and enthusiasm, The Captain for staying awake and especially to Simon for holing all those nasty putts I kept leaving him! |
