It was a log jam at the top of Division leaderboard on Saturday with four players tying on nett 70 - Jason Child won on a count back from Graham Leonard, Craig Conley and Stephen Kirk. It was different story in Division Two with Tim Brown winning by 5 shots with a nett 67 from Jamie Chappell. Clive Bowyer took the Veterans Prize and Andrew Jones the Hartley Trophy.
Andy Jones, Matthew East, Tom Gray and I went down for the annual pilgrimage to The Hudson Trophy at South Herts. Tom and I could not buy a putt all day and scores 78,77 - Andy and Matthew scored 80,77 to finish in 13th place, ensuring our place in next year's event. Thank you to The Captain and Karen, Bob Timmis, Graham Etherington and Andy Gray (Tom's father) for coming along and supporting and caddying.
In all the excitement of winning the A Team finals The Lady Captain omitted Julie Ann Ballantyne's name from the team in last week's newsletter, she assures me it was nothing to do with too much celebratory alcohol!! Well done Julie on securing a vital point in the final.
Our chef Stuart discarded his chef's whites for his running shoes to complete The Great North Run in 2 hours and 20 minutes. Mightily impressive effort Stuart, I find it impossible to believe that Mo Farah did the race of 13.1miles in just 60 minutes - I would struggle to that on a bike!
Hutchinson Salver this weekend, for the penultimate round of this year's aggregate. There has been more talk than ever this year on qualification for the MacKenzie at Meadow Club next August. It's close at the top and one score can make all the difference - good luck.
