Welcome to another edition of our newsletter. This week, we take a look at a tenth PGA Tour win for world number one Justin Rose, whilst also revealing one of the best drivers available in 2019. Enjoy the read! |
New Arrivals
There is new stock arriving daily in the shop, the new Callaway Epic Flash woods, the mew M5 & M6 from TaylorMade, the new PING G410 fitting irons. But the product that we will sell more of than all of them combined is the new Pro V1 and ProV1x. |
The New Pro V1 & Pro V1x
The Pro V1 revolutionised golf in 2000 when it was launched, it a multilayer distance ball with a cover that proved control for the better player. All the companies have copied the ball over the years but the Pro V1 and Pro V1x and now the AVX still dominate in the premium ball sector. |
Amazingly Titleist, have more than 80 scientists, engineers, and technicians who are solely dedicated to golf ball research and development. Golf ball R & D is a continuous process, the new ball has a 17% thinner cover that enables a bigger casing layer (the middle bit that provides the speed) and a new faster core.
I have done some tests this week in the studio and on average there was a 5-7 yard gain over the old Pro V1, but without a reduction in spin. I often hear people say “that they are not good enough to play with a ProV” – the ProV1 and ProV1x are the best ball that Titleist make, they are suited to golfers of all swing speeds (we all have different swing speeds with different clubs so it has to perform at all swing speeds). Obviously they are a premium ball that commands a premium price and for some people that is a major factor, but I would recommend giving the new #1 ball in golf a try. For those of you that prefer a yellow ball the new ProV1 and ProV1x are available in yellow for the first time ever.

Down to the wire
It was the last four holes where three scores were to count that made all the difference last Saturday. The winning team of Bob Hartley, Matthew Gibson, Andrew Magee and Kevin Henry spread eagled the field scoring six birdies in the last four holes and scoring 29 points to finish with 71 points; beating the teams of James Burnett, Steve Cavanagh, Rob Allison & Matthew Reed and Eddie Binks, Adam Dewhirst, Steve Kirk & Olly Stephenson who both scored 69 points. Well played guys. |
Order of Merit
No competition this weekend, but the last three rounds of the Order of Merit will take place on the last three Saturday in February. Still all to play for... |
Are new clubs the key? It was the perfect start to 2019 for world number one Justin Rose, as he won the Farmers Insurance Open by three shots at Torrey Pines to claim his tenth victory on the PGA Tour. Rose, who has switched club manufacturers this season, showed no signs of rustiness as he drove and putted superbly throughout the week, with every round in the 60s. He had a brief wobble in the final round, with three bogeys in his opening five holes, but his nearest challenger in Adam Scott was unable to capitalise. Whilst there would have been some eyebrows raised at Rose’s decision to switch up the clubs in his bag having just reached the pinnacle of golf, his victory shows that even the world’s best can keep on finding ways to improve their game through a change of gear in the bag. If you think it’s time for you to do the same, come down to the shop and have a chat with us – we’ll be happy to help you pick the clubs which take your game to the next level.

The moment you've been waiting for... |
Last week, we revealed some of the best irons on the market for 2019. Well, this time we're bringing out the big guns for you; it's time to take a look at one of the hottest, fastest drivers on the market in 2019 that'll have you hitting the ball further than ever off the tee. |
PING G410 Plus driver Featuring a game-changing moveable Tungsten weight on the back perimeter of the clubhead, we can set up PING's new G410 Plus driver in a draw, fade or neutral setting during a fitting to help counter your destructive shot, leading to more drives finding the centre of the fairway. The likes of Bubba Watson and Lee Westwood will be putting the G410 into play on Tour, so why wouldn't you go for it as well? Come and speak to a member of the team about a custom fitting. |
