Course news

Greens week

The in different weather for golf this week has been perfect for the greens after greens week and they are healing well. The chipping green that was done a week earlier than the main green is fully healed, so by next Saturday they should be putting well again for The Freddie White Trophy.

Shop news

Be quick whilst offers last!

Though it’s been quiet on the competition front, the shop has been busy with the Shirt Trade-In and sales on Under Armour and JL going well. These will all continue until the end of August but be quick because we are down to the last few of everything.

NEW IN from Titleist

The new Titleist fitting irons have all arrived in stock. After many years the popular AP2 name has been dropped and a slightly more logical sequence of T100, T200 & T300 have been introduced. The T100 is the AP2 replacement, T200 being the AP3 replacement and the T300 being the AP1 replacement. See I said it was more logical!

The T300 is the biggest club and the biggest game improvement club, the T200 has a hotter face for those players looking for an increase in ball speed but whilst still playing a more traditional club, and the T100 the more all-round traditional club. But as ever the only way to find out which is the one for you is to come along and have a fitting.

The new hybrids are also in and they follow the same pattern as the driver and fairways now being called TS2 and TS3. We have not yet received the Utility irons but I think the new 1 iron is going to a very popular club… watch this space.

Competition news

Saturday Stableford

There are a few two balls on the start sheet for the yellow tee Stableford on Saturday and with the weather forecast set fair for Saturday give the shop a call if you fancy a game.

The Captains' Charity Day

It is the Captains’ Charity Day celebrating 90 years of the Ryder Cup a Moortown next Friday. There are no places left to play with all teams being sold out, but if you fancy getting your hands on the real Ryder Cup it will be returning to the clubhouse for the first time in 90 years on Friday afternoon. It is amazing to think that Samuel Ryder himself held the trophy in our clubhouse!

For a donation to the charity come along and have a photo with one of the most iconic trophies in the world. If you can’t get up to the club on Friday, please feel free to leave any donations for the respective charities of Crisis and Macmillan Cancer Support in the office, shop or behind the bar. I’m sure Friday will be a very special day in Moortown’s history.

No distractions

Variety is the spice of life

Whatever happened to having a ‘textbook’ swing? If you were to watch golf on TV you’d see all sorts of different swings that have propelled these golfers to the top of the world, and the same can be said on the greens too.

TaylorMade Spider X putter

There's definitely no single approach when it comes to how you grip your putter.
