Juniors vs Gents

The juniors had an end of season match against the Moortown Gentlemen on Sunday and followed it with a presentation of the trophies. I think some of the Gentlemen were suffering from the Las Vegas night the night before and the juniors won 3-2.

Big congratulations to David Ellis doing a great job as Junior Organiser this year not only getting the boys to win promotion but also winning the LDUGC Champion of Champions Ken Romaine Trophy.

Winter Order of Merit

With all the qualifying competitions now over we move over to the winter order of merit. This year we will be trialling a system with winter handicaps. Everyone will start from their official handicap but anybody who wins an event will be cut one shot and play off their winter handicap for all the remaining order of merit events.

There will be no limit to how many shots that can be deducted if you should win multiple events. The system is new on the software this year so bear with me if we have a few hiccups along the way! The schedule for the winter can be found here.

82 not out

"As far as playing until 52, I hope that's the case.” – Tiger Woods

Back into the ring for the first time since knee surgery, Tiger Woods once again proved that class is permanent by equaling Sam Snead’s PGA Tour record of 82 wins with victory at the inaugural Zozo Championship.

A typhoon named Bualoi (which wiped out play on Friday) and the requirement for a fifth day couldn’t stop Tiger from dominating an impressive field in which he led home Matsuyama by three on 19-under-par.

Snead was 52 years old when he won his 82nd PGA Tour title and Tiger equalled it at 43 - impressive stuff!

Rain, rain go away

In 2018, only January saw more rainfall in the UK than November. Not the happiest of stats to highlight, but one that shows the inevitability of being caught in a few downpours this month, making a waterproof and spacious bag vital if you want to tackle the unpredictable British weather.

Which do you prefer?

Spotlight | Callaway JAWS MD5 Wedges
