It’s good to see competitions back on from this Saturday. It will be a non-qualifying stableford competition, the bunkers will be back in play and in accordance with the new rule from the R&A the ball can be placed in the bunker. Please try and rake the bunker with the sole of you shoe, and only use your club to maybe smooth the last footprint when you leave the bunker. The golden rule is to try and leave the bunker how you would like to find it. I quite like there not being any rakes, I like the more natural look of the bunker not perfectly raked and personally think it’s a hazard and you take the lie your given (obviously as I’ve just said you can place it). Golf was never meant to be fair; you get a good lie in the rough and a bad lie on the fairway, sometimes you’re behind the tree, sometimes it bounces out. Anyway, they are back in play from this weekend. The cards for the competition will be prepared as one card per tee time, one member of the group will be responsible for the scoring of the card and on competition of the round send it to me to record the scores, all contact details will be on the card. Peter and I have done a reschedule of all the competitions which is to be agreed by the golf committee and will be circulated once agreed, and qualifying competitions will start from the 13th June. |
