Another Hectic Week
We had another hectic week here at Moortown with the course averaging over 130+ rounds a day. This puts incredible pressure on the green staff to go about their daily maintenance. Having played in the Ganton match on Sunday I did think that the course was in excellent condition. Saturday’s June Medal produced more good scoring Division One was won by Jeremy Lathom-Sharp with a 73 nett 68 beating Adam Frontal who scored a fantastic four under par 67 adding his plus 2 handicap giving him a nett 69. After a double-bogey on the 5th standing on the 6th tee two over par Adam probably didn’t think it was going to be his day, but six birdies in the next thirteen holes did the job. David Ellis found a bit of form with a nett 69, I think the pressure from Joe via for the lowest handicap in the household might be spurring David on! Division Two was won by Ben Sugars also with a nett 68 beating Matthew Reed with a nett 69. The Captain hosted the first social match of the year, the good weather meant that we managed to do the social part outside which was good. The Captain and I lost our match being on the wrong end of a few birdies from Ganton Pro Gary Brown and a lot of shots from the Ganton Captain, The team rallied behind us and we manage to sneak a victory, which of course is irrelevant as long as you win! Lady Vice Captain Anne Weston leads the way in the Ladies Challenge Bowl after a first-round 72 being one ahead of Emma Bradley, and three ahead of Karen Duffield.
