Happy New Year everyone. I hope that you all had a good Christmas and New Year. The sprinkling of snow on Boxing Day unfortunately put paid to any golf for anyone during Christmas week. The rain at New Year got the course open and there were a lot of relieved faces in Saturday who looked to have been suffering from cabin fever!
The Final Christmas competition was won by The Cravens - Mike ensursed a good Christmas by winning the final two events. I won't bore you with Mike's progress with his winter coaching package. The Captain drew my Christmas draw before the presentation and Andrew Robertson was first out to win £300, Lady Captain £200, Paul Fullerton £100 and Bev Burrows £50. Thanks to everyone for the support.
It was the early starters who took advantage first Saturday of 2015. Simon Stephens, Tom Limbert, Jonathan Flint and Mike Winterbottom first out winning with 84 points, beating John Renny, Peter Thompson, David Nugent and Mike Weston taking second place with 82 points. Bill Dales finished third in a three ball with Philip Murtagh and Joe Hendron. Many of you will know that Bill had his clubs stolen before Christmas when his car was broken into at the club. Bill came for a fitting between Christmas and the New Year. It ended up with a very different specification than Bill's previous set ending up with Titleist AP2's with stiff shafts. I noticed Bill had come in 15 times on Saturday and emailed him saying the clubs were obviously working. This was Bill's reply : "Brilliant fitting. They feel great and the ball flight true and maybe one to two clubs longer. Probably one of my best rounds. Delighted with them." Every cloud has a silving lining- Obviously another satisfied customer.
This Saturday we are playing the Texas Scramble that was cancelled between Christmas and New Year. We've got some great new things for 2015 and we are really excited about helping you achieve all those New Year resolutions you have made. Happy Golfing this year.
