Well the scoring on Saturday in that wind was unbelievable - Richard Cooper, Mike Cooper, Jonathan Greenwood and Robert Allison took top spot with an incredible 59.3, beating Craig Conley Steve Trutch Mike West and Johnny Rhodes by nearly a whole shot. I did hear that Richard Cooper's drive on the 6th was so close to the green you could have kicked it on!!
It is fantastic to see so many of you playing in my 50th Birthday competition on Saturday 24th January -128 at last count. With the 5th and 6th holes out of action whilst the drainage and front of the 5th green are sorted out, it will be possible to get round quicker so playing after the 4 hour to sunset time will be fine if you haven't yet got a time. The format of the competition will definitely be a first for Moortown - there will be two holes on each green, one a regulation size hole and the other a large winter size hole. You can choose either hole to hole out into but you will get double points in the regulation size hole. I hope it will be obvious on the day and I'm hoping 50 points will be achievable. There won't be a charge for the competition but if you feel you could make a donation to the PGA Benevolent Fund that would be much appreciated. Established at the founding of the Professional Golfers' Association back in 1901, the charity continues to assist members in hardship or distress and each year offers help and support in a number of ways. Since being on The PGA Board, some of the stories of how the donations from the benevolent fund make such a huge difference really do touch the heart strings.
