Jonathan Greenwood and Martyn Davies had a great start to The Race to Melbourne (aka The Aggregate) by winning their respective divisions in The Spring Medal with nett 69 and 68 respectively. It was yet more success for pupils with David Ellis taking second in division one and David Sayers taking second in division two. Chris Smart also reaping the benefits of his winter coaching with Eddie scoring nett 70 for third in division two, and it was nice to see Eddie Winn back in the prizes also scoring nett 70 for third in division one.
Don't forget that time is running out to enter the knockout competitions for this year. Lawson Brown is the single knockout off handicap, entry £5.00. The MacKenzie is the men's 4 ball better ball entry £10 per pair, and the Calvert Rose Bowl is the mixed foursomes entry fee £20 which includes the plate competition at the end of the year. Entries are through the shop, closing date 6th April.
The ladies are back from their annual trip to San Lorenzo - no pictures, no stories and apparently no singing. Definitely a case of what goes on tour stays on tour!!
It is now only 13 days and counting to the start of The Masters, the traditional start to the season. The sweepstake for The Masters is always the most popular and is up and running in the shop from today. Entry is £5 for a player with first prize being £100 voucher in the shop. There will be the prizes for best and worse score of the day and prizes for the top four finishers.
I have nearly reached my quota for the Titleist Pro V1 offer of 4 for 3 with free printing. This is without doubt the best way to purchase your golf balls for the year. They net down to £31.50 a dozen and with some personalisation on them you'll never play the wrong ball again. (Hopefully!)
