British Ladies Amateur Stroke Play Championships
The British Ladies Amateur Strokeplay Championship of 2015 was a roaring success. The LGU were delighted with the Moortown not only as a great course, but for all the support they received for the membership and staff which meant the event went perfectly. Well done to all who helped make the event such a success.
The golf played by eventual winner Aditi Ashok from India was also near perfect - four rounds under par 71,73,70 and 71 for an eleven under par total winning by 5 shots. People who followed Aditi said she played within herself all week and everything looked so easy. The best score of the week came from Jessica Ross from Ireland with a 68 - 6 under par. Jessica must be all of 5 foot tall and in the last 36 holes she matched Aditi with 9 birdies and an eagle.
AmAm Invitation
On Saturday the new format AmAm Invitation was played over the same course and I have to say there didn't seem to be as many birdies and eagles flying about! The morning competition was won by Sam Roberts, Wayne Andrews, Alan Easton and Steve Binder with 91pts beating Jason Child, John Comiskey, Iain Robb and Ben Liversidge on the back nine.
The afternoon players just caught the thunderstorm for the last couple of holes but that didn't stop the scoring being equally as good with Craig Conley, Steve Heald, Steve Trutch and Simon Kelly also scoring 91pts to beat John Fearn, Justin O'Halloran, Peter Jeavons and Ian Marker who scored 90 pts.
Mens Open
This week saw the Mens Open which was won by Ben Hutchinson and Charlie Turner from Howley Hall with 43 points.
