Wow Wow Wow - Moortown ladies just can't stop winning. First the scratch team pick up the 2nd division title and trophy, then the evening league team win the league, and then the B team win their semi-final and final in the YLCGA B division finals at Selby. The ladies are getting more headlines than Leeds United featuring in the Evening Post- (Click here to see) Even got Yorkshire Post tweeting about their success.
Well done to Lady Captain Sue and all the Captains of all the teams, it just needs the A Team to do the business at HALIFAX WEST END Golf Club on September 10 2015. The 2015 Semi Final will be held between Thirsk Northallerton, Lightcliffe, Wath and Moortown. From a small ladies section it real is an amazing achievement.

On Saturday it was Richard Pedley who led the way from early on with a great 69 to win the Freddie White Trophy on a tough day which saw CSS go up to 76. Tim Drake finished second with a nett 70 despite missing a short putt on the last, Tim consoled himself having achieved he's years goal of reaching 18 handicap -well done both.
The Yorkshire Order of Merit is a real two horse race between two Moortown members with Phil Tomlinson leading Ben Firth by 216 points, but with double points on offer at The Moortown Masters on the 20th of this month, it is going to add some real spice to see who will lift the title. Both of them have been working Duncan McCarthy on mental performance, fitness and time management and it is obviously paying dividends.

Duncan has been having some real success this year with Marcus Armitage winning twice on EuroPro tour and looking like he might win the order of merit. All in all this year Moortown has seen eight wins on the Yorkshire Order of Merit - Phil has won four times, David Houlding twice and Andy Jones and Ben Firth once. Coupled with the juniors under the guidance of Stewart, Krombacher Laws gaining promotion to the L&DUGC division two, the scratch team winning the L&DUGC team championship it really is turning out to be a really successful year for Moortown. I'm off to the Hudson Trophy at South Herts partnering in form Ben Firth (we'll see how good he is if he can carry me round 36 holes of foursomes!!) with Andy Jones and Tom Gray this weekend. 2 rounds of scratch foursomes with all scores to count - there is no hiding place with the bottom four teams being relegated - I hope I can report on more success for Moortown in next week's newsletter.
