The 2016 MacKenzie team has been finalised - 2016 Captain Pete Wilson will lead Richard Brown as MacKenzie Director, Me, Neil Webster, David Boyd, Martyn Robinson, Mike Tomlinson last but by no means least Dave Sayers to Royal Melbourne. It must be the finest team to ever represent Moortown and will no doubt return with the new trophy, now the bagpipes have been retired!
Next Saturday is the first Christmas Competition, still one or two places left if you fancy a game give us a call.
Well it certainly seems to have turned to winter this last week. The team of vertical-drainers have been in this week and done all the fairways, this greatly improves not only the drainage, but by getting air to the roots also greatly improves the quality of the turf. With the disruption to the fairways, preferred lies have now been introduced.
This week I have been off for a few days with Jo for half-term. On Monday, we went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park to see the poppy display. If you get a chance I would thoroughly recommend going, it is not only beautiful, but very moving.
Wednesday I was dragged to The Antiques Roadshow (again) in Harrogate. Highlight for me was a valuation of the FA Cup, to get up close to the great trophy was amazing - the £1 million valuation was probably very conservative.
