Steve Trutch and Craig Conley won the 1st Christmas competition with 44 points, they played the front nine in two under par gross to score 24 points and hung on to beat Stuart Santon and David Auerbach who had looked like winning all day with 43 points.
Congratulations to Robert Blackburn who was nominated to be Vice Captain for 2016 last Friday. Robert joins a very select few members whose fathers have also been Captain of Moortown Golf Club, Antony Burrows and Jamie Allison being the most recent who have followed in their father's footsteps.
The green staff have been this week micro solid tining the greens, giving them some vital aeration following on from the wet October where we had 5 inches of rain. They have also put a new path down to the range this week and on Friday will be adding some protection for the grass behind the new mat that has also recently been installed. When the new mat comes into use next week I would ask everybody to please hit all shots from the mat. It will accept a tee peg and if your normal tee peg is too high, don't tee it up on the area behind - buy some shorter tees! Please police it and if you see someone playing from the grass politely tell them.
We have just had some new Icon flight cover bags arrive in store with the Moortown logo on, perfect if you're planning jetting off for some winter golf. Also had a great range of winter hats all with the Moortown logo which will be pretty necessary shortly.
Don't forget to get your orders in for the personalised golf balls from Titleist for Christmas, they make the ideal present for the golfer who has everything.

Eddie and I have started our winter programmes of coaching this week and have been both really busy in the studio. I intended to have a teacher's pet of the week every week for the pupil who has shown the most improvement.
The first teacher's pet is Nigel Binks - Nigel on his first session really benefitted from seeing what was required on the video and I think you will all agree that the top of the backswing position (top) looks much better, a change in posture and a different feel of balance has improved his leg action, and got a more stable turn behind the ball. Well done Nigel sorry your pals are going to give you a hard time!
No competition this weekend so enjoy the friendly game.
