Wikipedia says of Leeds "Situated on the eastern side of the Pennines, Leeds is among the driest cities in the United Kingdom, with an annual rainfall of 660 mm (25.98 in)."
So in one of the driest cities in the United Kingdom with an average rainfall in October of 55mm and November of 57mm 2015 has not been kind and we have seen 114.5 mm in October and 155.5 mm in November. Nearly two and half times the average rainfall, or 40% of the average annual rainfall. For those of you who prefer old money that is nearly 10 ¾ inches of rain in two months! Always loving a number and a statistic, if the course is as reported 175 acres, according to Google and my calculations that is 50.5 million gallons of rain. So for those of you that haven't been up to the club recently the course is a little wet!!
Amazingly the course has only been closed for a few days, the great work done by Steve and his team and Geoff Mortimer's men re-grading the ditches has certainly helped get rid of some of those 50.5million gallons, but I know Steve has more plans to upgrade more of the ditches on the course, in an effort to get any water off site as soon as possible.
